WWII Mauser K98 with The Rare Barrel Mounted Grenade Launcher with Sight Assembly
This is an example of 98K rifle as manufactured by the Mauser factory in 1940. The rifle has been fitted with an original WWII German grenade launcher, mounted on the muzzle of the barrel with an original side mounted grenade launcher rear sight assembly. These sights were issued in large numbers however they are very scarce today in any condition as most were destroyed after the war. The rifle has the standard receiver marking of "42/1940" indicating manufacture at the Mauser factory in 1940 and the receiver side wall has the "Mod 98" markings. The right side of the receiver has the "Eagle 655" acceptance proofs and the single eagle firing proof on the left side of the barrel and receiver. It has the early style milled components to include the "H" pattern front barrel band, trigger guard and floor plate. It is fitted with the original wartime laminated stock and handguard with the flat buttplate. The right side of the stock has the single eagle WaA655 Waffenamt proof and the underside of the stock has the same proof along with the rifle serial number. It is fitted with the original tangent rear sight and inverted "v" front sight. The grenade launcher is marked on the underside "G Gr. Ger/Lze over a single Eagle WaA721 Waffenamt proof. The corresponding sight is marked with the makers code of "guh" along with a single Eagle WaA68 Waffenamt proof. It is complete with a reproduction leather sling and the original cleaning rod.
