This fairly scarce P.08 41-42 Variation Luger was produced in early 1941 when Mauser was changing from the four-digit chamber dates to the two-digits dates and changing the wartime "42" code to the "byf" code. During this period there was an over-lapping of marking changes. It is estimated that approximately 7000 were produced in the "n-r" serial number ranges. Fixed sights, with the chamber marked "41" for the date and the toggle marked "42" for Mauser. Safety and extractor marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively, "P.08" on left frame side, and the bore marking on the barrel underside. Waffenamt eagle/655 and firing proofs are present. Full serial number on the front of the frame (with n suffix), left barrel extension, and barrel underside, with the partial number "19" on the takedown latch, side plate, safety bar, thumb safety lever, extractor, front toggle and toggle link. All blue finish with checkered walnut grips. Magazine features an alloy base marked with the letter "k" and a "droop wing eagle" proof. Complete with leather holster, takedown tool and extra mismatched magazine. Back of holster stamped with an Akah marking, takedown tool and "1781" and the inside of the flap has an illegible handwritten marking.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 6219n
Condition: Very good as arsenal/importer refurbished. The pistol retains much of the dark dipped blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with extensive areas of minor pitting. There is a minor crack on the right panel at the top, otherwise the grips are very good with some minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Holster is very good with some minor handling marks and flex wear with a small tear on the magazine pouch.
