This is a nice mid-production 1939 dated luger manufactured by the Mauser factory. The chamber area is marked "1939" with the wartime code of "42" marked on top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double "eagle/63" proofs next to the single Nazi eagle firing proof. Both sides of the barrel have a single small firing proof, as well as on the left side of the breechblock. The upper safety area and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. The magazine is WWII model with the unmarked blued magazine body with the aluminum base, marked "4154/i/eagle 63 proof" on the underside. This series of luger has the all salt blue metal finish with checkered walnut grips.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 4934q
Condition: Very fine with 97% of the blued finish remaining overall with edge and high spot wear, with thinning on the grip straps and stock lug area. The grips are very good overall with nice distinct checkering on both sides with minor light nicks and pressure dents in a few places. The pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above and the grips, which are numbered "33" in lieu of 34. Still a very nice, representative example of a pre-war Mauser Luger pistol.
