A WWII captured German Mauser K98 Sniper rifle, with bayonet and Erma .22 caliber conversion kit.. Gun appears complete, matching, and original. Serial number 9702 appears on front barrel band, scope mounts, bolt toggle, and floor plate of magazine. Waffenampt mark of eagle over swastika appears next to serial number over "g" in barrel between front sight and receiver, with eagle over "W. 335" on top, and "avk" code on right side. "Z" stamped on left of receiver just next to scope mount, as well as on left of front open sight. Eagle over "133" waffenampt on frame of magazine, between screw and floor plate. Scope is marked "DIALYTAN 4x", "74817", and coded "bmj". Right of stock shows national eagle over "H" on butt. Stock is painted with a dark brown, almost black oil based paint, which appears period, likely for lower visibility. Paint shows scuffs and wear typical to service use. Leather sling also appears original to gun. Bayonet, with matching numbered scabbard also appears original to gun. Bayonet is dated 1941, and coded "fnj". Also included (and brought back) with the gun is a captured Erma .22 caliber conversion kit for K98, complete with magazine adapter and two magazines, and dated 1938. Conversion kit is marked with "Fabrikat Erma Erfurt" logo, waffenampt marks, German proofs, and serial numbered 1662. Bore on rifle is bright and clean, with deep rifling. Some light surface rust on finish and scope, and stock is very good. Bayonet shows some service wear, but is otherwise very good. Erma conversion kit is bright and clean in bore, and overall very good to excellent condition, in its original fitted wood box. An all together rare and uniquely historic WWII grouping. SN: 9702 Caliber: 8x57mm Serial #: 9702
