WWII M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle, by Springfield, #3164478, .30-06 cal., 24'' barrel, parkerized finish, walnut stock. August 1944 dated barrel, correct ''D28287-19SA'' marked bolt, correct late-war stamped triggerguard, stock is cartouched ''SA/GAW'' with small Ordnance wheel, and lock bar rear sight. With the exception of the heat lot number and barrel date, this rifle is marked with features shared between serial no. 3000000, data sheet 6.35, and serial no. 3192629, data sheet 6.36, on pages 233 & 234 of the book ''The M1 Garand: World War II'', by Scott A. Duff, leading us to believe that this is in its correct configuration prior to any rebuilds or overhauls. Condition is fine to near excellent retaining approx. 96% correct gray/green parkerization. Stock with light scuffs and dings and very clear cartouche. Solid roll pin retaining lower band is missing as is often the case on these WWII era examples. Action is crisp, bore is bright. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R)
