This is an example of an Early WWII K98 rifle manufactured Suhl by J.P. Sauer & Sons. The top of the receiver ring is marked with a Nazi firing proof over "ce / 42", the right side is marked with an "eagle/359" proof and the left side is marked with the firing proof and the serial number. The left side receiver wall is marked "Mod.98". The left side rear of the barrel is marked with the Nazi firing proof. The right side of the barrel directly behind the hand guard is marked with two "eagle/359" proofmarks. Hooded ramp blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters. All visible numbers match. Correct early all milled parts and mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with cupped buttplate and marked with an eagle proof over "H" on the right side. Complete with a slotted cleaning rod, leather cross hatch sling and bayonet with metal scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet has a Bakelite serrated handle and blue blade marked with "MUNDLOS" on one side and "7418 / c" on the other. The scabbard is numbered to the bayonet and the back of the frog is marked "cgn / 43".

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 70% original thinning finish with areas of smooth gray patina. The barrel bands have a smooth brown patina and the floor plate and trigger guard are a mix of smooth brown patina and original blue finish. The stock is fine with a few overall minor dings and dents. The sling is good showing some heavy wear and tight stitching. The bayonet, scabbard and frog are all very good with some light spotting on the scabbard.
