WWII Gustloff-Werke bcd Code G43 Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle with ZF-4 Scope and Mount
This is a nice example of a bcd code G43 rifle that was manufactured by Gustloff-Werke. These rifles were the first true production G43 rifles. They are characterized by the type 1 milled receiver and milled components. It is estimated that only approximately 40,000 total of this type were produced with the probability that this model was assembled at the Buchenwald concentration camp under the SS, as noted in "Hitler's Garands". The left side of the receiver is marked with a Nazi firing proof and an asterisk/sunburst proofmark over "bcd serial number G43 and Nazi firing proof". The matching bolt carrier is also the early type 2 rough cast version similar to the G41 series of rifles that retains the solid cocking knob on the left side and the bolt hold open latch on the right side without the reinforcing web on top. The action housing is the correct stamped version with the automatic dust cover. Hooded high ramp front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 1200 meters, threaded muzzle with cover and cleaning rod with slotted head. The stock and handguard are laminated and the left side of the buttstock is marked with an "eagle / 359" proof and the wrist is marked with a "eagle / WaA 359" proofmark. Complete with the correct mount with an "eagle /359" proof, "558" marked at the front and correctly "fest" and "lose" marked locking lever and a ZF 4 scope marked "GW ZF 4 dow triangle / 38554" on the left side with rubber eye piece, wood plug and leather objective end cover. Complete with a brown pebble grain leather sling.

Gauge: 8 mm
Finish: blue
Grips:

Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 95% of the original blue finish with thinning on the barrel and some wear action housing from normal cycling of the action. With the exception of a couple of wood fill repairs on the left rear of the handguard, the wood is very fine with a few minor dings and dents. The scope is excellent with clear optics. The sling is very good with a few light scuffs. The markings are highlighted in white and remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
