WWII German SS Dagger, 14-3/4'' overall in scabbard, 8-3/4'' blade, correct dyed black wood grip with German national eagle and SS rune insignia. Blade is marked ''Meine Ehre heisst Treue'' (My Honor is Loyalty). Scabbard is of the black painted variety with nickel-plated scabbard fittings. Back of blade is marked ''RZM'' in circular motif, over ''1052/38 SS'', for Pumawerk (Lauterjung & Sohn). Condition is fine with correct polishing marks and scuffs from scabbard insertion. Nickel plating to upper and lower guard shows considerable thinning with approx. 60% remaining exposing the zinc base metal. Wear to eagle is moderate and very similar to that as pictured on page 354 of the book ''German Daggers of World War II, Vol. II'', by Johnson. Scabbard with light discoloration to chape and throat, approx. 90% original paint remains. Est.: $1,800-$2,400.
