WWII German Mauser (S/42) 1937 Luger
This is a nice example of a pre-WWII German Luger as manufactured by the Mauser factory in 1937. The top of the chamber area is marked 1937 with S/42 markings on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension is marked with the early "Eagle/63" Waffenamt proofs. The various small parts all have the last two digits of the serial number and it is marked with Geladen and Gesichert on the extractor and safety area respectively. It has the correct walnut checkered grips with the all blued finish on all the parts. It is complete with an original WWII aluminum base FXO magazine, than is marked with the serial number on the base.

Arsenal refinished/reworked overall with 95% of an dull dip blue with wear on the front edges of the frame rails, muzzle, edges and high spots. The grips are in very good condition with nice checkering showing only minor handling marks in a few places. The pistol appears to have been field repaired, as the barrel is a field replacement that was numbered to match and was proofed with an "Eagle 655" Waffenamt. The side plate and grips screws are also from a WWI pistol, with the side plate being proofed with a "Crown /J" proof that was also renumbered to match. The magazine is a correct late type III version that was also numbered to match without the letter suffix.
