. This famous maker was established in 1865 by Carl Eickhorn. During WWII the company produced many variations of daggers including very high end pieces for leadership positions. This example has mounted with oak leaf and acorn decorated aluminum mounts with the Luftwaffe eagle guard and round bulbous pommel finished in airplane gray plating. The blade is marked with ORIGINAL / Squirrel / EICKHORN / SOLINGEN trademark. The grips are a light yellow celluloid with tightly spun wire wraps. The scabbard is finished in airplane gray plating with oak leaf and acorn motif and stippled panels. CONDITION: Overall good. The blade is very good with crisp markings and some light scuffing, a couple of small dings to the edge, and a few scattered spots of oxidation. The mounts are overall good with finish remaining strong in the protected areas with the high points and edges fading to the aluminum base metal. There are some dents and handling marks to the guard. The grips are fair with a couple of tight cracks extending from the pommel, as well as, a 1/4" chip at the pommel as well. The scabbard is good with the plating remaining in the protected areas and some light oxidation in the stippling and some scattered light handling marks. (02-24942/ZAL). NON-GUN. $350-500.
