WWII Era Richtig Fighting Knife, 7-5/8'' blade, 12-1/2'' overall, in nicely tooled Alfred Cornish leather scabbard. Bronze hilt and pommel, handle is a combination of leather washers with colored and brass spacers; pommel shows loop for thong. Top of pommel marked ''FJR/Clarkson/Neb.''. It is interesting to note that in 1936 Ripley's Believe It or Not featured Frank Richtig for his ability to temper knife blades that could chop up steel bolts and railroad spikes. Richtig had many satisifed customers who sent him letters to that affect, such as George Patton, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight Eisenhower, Franklin Roosevelt, and Adm. Chester Nimitz. Condition is fine with some minor spotting to high carbone steel blade. Bronze fittings show light tarnish with some darkening to leather grip and scabbard. Est.: $4,000-$6,000.
