Manufactured 1917. This pistol was one of 500 shipped to the Springfield Armory on October 16, 1917. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address, with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" , and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" is marked on the right side of the slide. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the left side is marked with the "circled "GHS" inspection mark of Major Gilbert H. Stewart. The barrel chamber is marked with an "H" and "P" and there is a "H" at the top of the hammer slot. Fixed sights, lanyard ring on the heel, unmarked two tone magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 75% original blue finish. The slide is thinning and shows some very minor pitting developing on the left side. The forward underside of the frame, front strap and trigger guard have a smooth grayish patina and the back strap and grip safety are a mix of thin original blue finish and smooth gray patina. Overall there are a few minor scratches and dings. The grips are very good with a small moderate pressure dent above the lower left screw, overall a few minor dings and very crisp checkering. The markings are highlighted in white and remain clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
