WWI U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with WWI Helmet
Manufactured in 1917, this pistol is one of 786 1911 pistols sent to the Commanding Officer on the Rock Island Arsenal on May 23, 1917. Fixed sights, with the two line, two block Colt patents and address on the left side of the slide with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, "H" above the firing pin stop and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" on the right. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and the circled "GHS" inspection mark is on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. The "No" style serial number is marked on the right side of the frame. Smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and hammer, lanyard ring on the heel, absent magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the screws. Complete with an original WWI helmet with liner and chin strap. The helmet has been sand painted camouflage with Sgt. Strips painted in brown on the front.

Condition: Fine. The pistol retains 60% original thin blue finish with smooth gray patina on the bottom of the frame and on the grip straps. There are some scattered minor scratches. The grips are also very good with a few scattered minor dings and dents, and crisp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. The mechanics are excellent. Missing magazine The helmet is good with some of the sand chipping off and some corrosion on the inside. The lining is good and the strap is separated.
