WWI U.S. Colt Model 1911 'Black Army' Semi-Automatic Pistol
This desirable U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol was manufactured in 1918. The pistol has the distinctive blue-black, 'Black Army' finish adopted by Colt in mid-1918 to expedite production and is fitted with checkered walnut stocks with diamond pattern around the screws. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block address and patent dates with the Rampant Colt in the center, the left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "eagle head/S17" above the magazine release. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" and the serial number is on the right side of the frame. The lower left side of the trigger guard is marked with the number "25" and the barrel chamber is marked with the intertwined "HP". Smooth trigger and checkered slide stop, thumb safety and hammer spur. Standard fixed sights and lanyard ring on the heel.

Condition: Fine. The pistol retains 50% of the original blue finish with thinning in areas, high edge wear and smooth silver gray patina on the grip straps, trigger guard and bottom of the frame. The grips are very good showing moderate wear, minor dents and bruises and for the most part crisp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent. Missing magazine.
