WWI Mauser Broomhandle Red-Nine 1920 Rework Semi-Automatic Pistol
This is a nice example of a WWI, 1896 Broomhandle Mauser pistol that was reworked in 1920 during the Weimar period. The right side of the pistol receiver is marked: "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER / OBERNDORF A NECKAR.". The top of the barrel chamber is marked: "WAFFENFABRIK / MAUSER / OBERNDORF A/N." There is a Crown "U" proofmark located on the upper left side of the receiver on the flat below the serial number and directly behind that is a larger "1920" rework date stamp. The pistol has the standard rust blued finish overall and the trigger, safety, rear sight elevation bar and extractor have a niter blue finish. The grips have the large "9" filled with red paint burned into both sides.
BBL: 5 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 92020

Fine with 75% of the arsenal reworked blue finish remaining overall, with wear on the edges and high spots overall with more blue loss on the grip straps, the front edges of the frame rail, the sides, underside and top portion of the barrel. The grips are also in fine condition with 80% of the red paint still remaining with pressure dents and dings on both sides from actual field use. The exposed serial numbers of the pistol are all matching. Mechanically excellent.
