WWI German 1915 DWM Luger Pistol With Two Magazines and a Brown Leather Holster
This is a fine example of a mid-WWI German luger pistol as produced by the DWM factory in 1915. It is the standard four inch barrel model that was used during WWI, the Weimar era and throughout WWII. The top of the chamber area is dated 1915 and the front toggle has the DWM factory logo. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with three "crown/script letter" proofs along with the Imperial eagle proof. The top of the barrel has the single Imperial Eagle as used on DWM lugers and the underside has the serial number and bore diameter, "8,82". It is correctly serial numbered in the military style with the full serial number on the left side of the barrel extension, the under side of the barrel and the front of the frame. The various small parts are correctly numbered with the last two digits (45) of the serial number. The extractor and safety are correctly marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" respectively. It is fitted with a set of original checkered walnut grips. These WWI lugers all have a rust blued metal finish with straw colors on the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever and ejector. It is complete with two non-matching wood base, nickel plated magazines, and a brown leather holster. The holster has an unreadable makers name inside the flap over 1915.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 8845b
Condition: Very fine with 90% of the original blued finish overall, showing wear and blue loss on all the edges and high spots, such as the frame rails, the side plate hump, the muzzle area with some thinning on the grips. The left side of the frame behind the side plate has a small patch of pin prick pitting in two area. The straw colors on the various parts has faded to about 10%. The grips are in good plus condition with good matching color on both sides with wear across the tops of the checkering. The holster is in very good condition with a nice medium to dark brown color overall with minor scratches and scuffing overall. The stitching is tight overall except the front upper edge of the magazine pouch, which has come loose, with the belt loops a little smashed. It has matching numbers on the pistol, except for both magazines. A fine example of a complete WWI DWM luger rig.
