WWI French Triangular Rifle Bayonet Collection
Included in this lot we have a collection of three rifle bayonets originating from the first world war. The collection consists of a French M1874 T-back sword bayonet, and two unmarked triangular bladed socket bayonets, one with a scabbard. The M1874 is a French sword bayonet thay was converted from a earlier model to fit the 11 mm. M1874 Gras rifle. The back of the blade is marked "Mre d'Armes de St. Etienne Feinier 1879". Both of the socket bayonets show the classic bayonet look with a socket designed to fit onto a rifle barrel with the log triangular blade set below the socket on a curved arm. The first socket bayonet shows a longer cleaner blade with a rusted locking ring and brass and leather scabbard. The collection shows fair condition overall with some rusting and wear. The sword bayonet measures 25 1/4" long with a 20 3/8" blade, with the longest socket bayonet measuring 20 3/4" long with a 17 1/2" long blade.
