WWI Era Colt Government Commercial Model Semi-Automatic Pistol
This is a nice example of a very early commercial 1911 Colt pistol as manufactured in 1917. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line patent dates (April 1897 to August 1913) followed by the two line Hartford address with the Rampant Colt appearing behind the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45". The frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the "C" prefix serial number on the right side. It has the correct unmarked Colt barrel with the polished chamber area, with the short grip safety, checkered hammer, smooth trigger and flat mainspring housing and early 1914 pattern thumb safety. Fitted with checkered walnut grips and a two-tone magazine with a lanyard loop on the floor plate.

Excellent with approximately 93% of the original blue thinning and spotting on sides and top area of the slide with a couple of small pin prick pits on the left side of the slide, with some thinning and general wear on the edges and high spots overall. The grips are very good with a few chips and handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A nice original example of an early commercial Colt.
