WWI Era Civilian Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter
Manufactured in 1917. This revolver features the one line Hartford address on top of the barrel with "45 COLT" on the left side. Serial number "336770" is marked on the frame, trigger guard and rear grip strap. The frame is also marked with the two line, three date patent information followed by an encircled Rampant Colt on the left side. The left side of the trigger guard has the Colt Verified Proof on the front bow and a number "1" on the rear. The cylinder is marked with the number "70" on the rear face with a number "7" followed by a vertical line in the hammer well. The loading gate is marked with "712" as is the rear of the frame just below where rear grip strap is secured to the frame. Fitted with checkered walnut grips that feature diamond patterns and Rampant Colt medallions. The inside of the left grip panel is marked "17". The included factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length, finish, the checkered walnut grips and the shipment of the revolver to the Elmira Arms Co. in Elmira, New York on the 6th of September, 1917.

Excellent, The barrel retains 98% of the original blue finish with a few nicks and minor thinning overall. The cylinder shows 90% of the original blue finish with light scratches overall. The frame retains 90% of the original vivid case colors with the balance aged to a smooth gray patina. The hammer has some minor spotting with strong case colors visible. The grip straps and trigger guard show 90% plus original blue with minor thinning and a few light scratches scattered overall. Grips are excellent, with a slight bit of overhang on the bottom (possibly replaced, but exceptional originals). Mechanically excellent.
