WWI DWM Police Rework Luger Pistol with WWI Holster
This is a very nice example of an early WWI Luger as manufactured by DWM that was converted/arsenal reworked into a police issue pistol sometime in early 1921. The top of the chamber area carries the 1916 date without the 1920 rework date with the standard DWM markings on the toggle. The right side of the barrel extension, as well as the rest of the pistol has the standard Imperial Eagle acceptance proof, while the barrel was replaced during the rework/arsenal by Simpson and Suhl and now carries the 1921, PTV proofmark over the Simpson Eagle. The underside of the barrel has the bore diameter and no serial number. The left side of the barrel also has the later WWII Eagle L proof applied during the early stages of WWII. In addition to those proofs the pistol has the standard safety bar over the side plate. Currently it has been fitted with a late WWII "fxo", police magazine that has been numbered to match the pistol. The pistol has matching numbers on the various other parts. It is complete with a non matching wood base magazine and a 1916 dated WWI brown leather holster.
