WWI Army Recruiting Poster - “Columbia Calls
WWI Army Recruiting Poster - “Columbia Calls - Enlist Now for U. S. Army”. 27.25” x 38.75”, color lithograph, copyright 1916, designed by Frances Adams Halsted, painted by Vincent Aderente. A wonderfully evocative poster featuring lady Columbia standing atop the world proudly holding the American flag in one hand and a sword in the other. Frances Halsted provides a six-stanza poem: “Awake! Ye men from dreams of Peace - Nor sleep when danger’s near, But fling Old Glory to the breeze - There are no cowards here!...”. The poster has a few tears repaired with tape on the verso, with a few smaller splits along the edges and appears to have been trimmed along the right edge (easily concealed when framed). Otherwise, a colorful poster in very good condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Large (view shipping information)
