7 1/2" long open. 29.47 grams. George Sumida, 91-year-old Worland resident, died Sept. 8, 2013. He was born March 26, 1922 in Hood River, Ore., son of Tomanosuki and Tsuyayo Sumida. In April of 1942, while living in Hardin, Mont., George enlisted in the military. He served in Italy as part of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most decorated infantry regiment in US Army history. Their motto was "Go for Broke." On April 7, 1952, he was married to Kimie Shimogaki in Billings, Mont., and they made their home in Worland. He worked for Holly Sugar and Big Horn Co-op for many years and retired in 1985. He was an early riser and loved working in his garden and keeping his immaculate yard. He also loved bowling, playing cards and taking his boat out onto Boysen Reservoir and Sunshine Reservoir where he loved to fish with friends. He was a member of the Worland Elks, American Legion Post 44 and Eagles Lodge.
