These are two WW2 US practice bombs used in dive bombing maneuvers. They were originally made in three different weights known as MK-5, MK-23, and MK43s. These two bombs are inert MK-23s made of cast iron. Cleverly designed to report when exploded. The bombs are about eight pounds each and currently NOT charged with blank 10 gauge shotgun shells for a report and pyrotechnic. These practice bombs have a firing pin fixed in the nose and the shogun shell would rapidly strike the firing pin upon impact. The pyrotechnics and report are out the back of the bomb to be seen by pilots. They are marked part #294284-A-1 MC. Both bombs appear to be undamaged and un-used. No International sales or to California. No WW2 collection would be complete without these two practice bombs.
