Lot of 3. 1) Lt. Alexander Vraciu, USNR, shown here returning from the famous "Marianas Turkey Shoot" on June 19th, 1944, and shaking hands with Admiral Mitcher, aboard the carrier USS Lexington, V-16 ~ He was born in East Chicago, ID, on Nov. 2, 1918, Joined the Navy in June 1941 and had many career achievements during his service, including 19 enemy aircraft destroyed. He retired as a Commander on January 1, 1964. ~ Included is a signed print of his F6F-3 Hellcat while flying on the USS Intrepid ~ (11"x 17")
2) Lt. Col. Clarence E . "Bud" Anderson, Jr., USAAF ~ California native, born 13 Jan. 1922 in Oakland Calif.~ Joined the US Army Air Forces on January 19, 1942, graduating from the Aviation Cadet Program Sept. 29, 1942 and assigned to the 363rd fighter Squadron, 357th Group, which went to England in Nov. 1943 equipped with the new P-51. He participated in the 357th first combat on 20 Feb. 1944 after which he amassed a total of 16 º kills. He remained in the Air Force following the war and retired March 1, 1972. ~ Enclosed is a signed photograph of him in the cockpit of his P-51 called "Old Crow"& a signed color print of the aircraft in question ~ (17"x 11")
3) Col. Donald J. M. Blakeslee, USAAF, born on 11 September 1917 at Fairport Harbor, Ohio ~ Joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in September, 1940 and transferred to the USAAF on 29 Sept. 1942 and was made Commander of the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group. He went on to achieve a tally record of 14 1/2 confirmed kills, 3 probable and 11 damaged. ~ Colonel Blakeslee remained in the Air Force following the war and served in a variety of command & staff positions prior to his retirement in April 1965 ~ Included is a print of Blakeslee's P-51 Mustang, Ltd #357/1000 ~ (17"x 12 1/2")
