1) Capt. Jack M. Ilfrey, flew the P-38 Lightning, first with the 94th"Hat in the Ring" Squadron, 1st Fighter Group in Africa, and later in England with the 79th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Group in March, 1944 as it's commanding officer ~ On a June mission, Jack was forced to bail out of "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" just before it exploded. ~ This signed print by artist Ernie Boyette spells out this harrowing story and the rest of his military career ~ (LE 451/750 ~ 18"W x 12"H)
1) Capt. Robert S. Johnson, flew the P-47 Thunderbolt with the 57th Group, 61st Fighter Squadron in England in April, 1943 ~ He ended his combat duty in May, 1944 as the second highest scoring ace in Europe with 27 confirmed arial victories ~ This signed print by artist Ernie Boyette tells the story of Johnson's military experience's ~ LE 21/250 ~ (18"W x 12"H
2) Lt. Col. Francis S. Gabreski, born of Polish ancestry on 28 January 1919, graduated from pilot training at Maxwell Field, AL on 14 March,1941 ~ He was assigned in February 1943 to the 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group based at Boxed, and scored his first victory on 24 August. ~ By the middle of July, 1944, he was the ETO's leading ace with 28 victories ~ In June 1951 he was sent to Korea to the 4th Fighter-Interceptor Group flying the F-86 Sabre. Here he added 6 1/2 Migs for a tally of 34 ~ This collection of ephemera includes a print by Stan Stokes with artist remarque, entitled "Bridge Busting Jugs"(11"x 16"), signed by Gabreski with a 2-page Certificate of Authenticity and a 7"x 10"signed photograph of the renowned Ace and his 34 kills
