FINAL AUCTION RECORD The Auctioneer’s podium notes serve as the final, legally binding record of the auction results, superseding any electronic bidding records. See Terms and Conditions
This lot holds four boxes of .30 cal. M1 carbine ammunition. Three boxes are full of 50 rounds and a fourth box has about 30 more rounds. Made by the Western Cartridge Company of East Alton, Ill. and repackaged at the Evansville Ordnance Plant in Evansville, Indiana. The boxes are clearly stamped "REPACKED E. C. 5-44" indicating a repackaging effort at the Evansville Chrysler Plant in May of 1944. Apparently, previous packaging did not fare well in damp climates and had to be repackaged. The Evansville Ordnance Plant was the most likely facility to do this work since their contract for ammunition ended the month before. Interestingly, the war would not be over until 1945. All boxes are in excellent condition with military ball ammunition. Additional shipping charges apply. Please see photo for details.
