WW II Philippines Bring Back Fighting Knife
Offered in this lot is a WW II Philippines "Bring Back" Fighting Knife with a leather scabbard, circa 1941-1945. "Bring Back" knives came in two versions: those of a purely souvenir nature, crafted and sold to American military personnel after WW Two; actual fighting knives made for combat. This fighting knife has inverted "V" markings of the latter on both sides of the double quillon. The wood handle is most likely made from Philippine mahogany (Meranti). The stamped leather scabbard is supple, stitching intact, comes with a twisted sisal carrying cord. The modified clip point steel blade is in good condition, nice patina throughout. Blade measures 10"L x 1.25"W, whole knife is 15.5"L x 2.5"W, knife in scabbard is 17"L. Weight is 10oz.
