This Coors Brothers Dairy cream can comes from the Coors Brothers Dairy of Cincinnati, Ohio. At the time of the date on the side of the can, January, 1942, it was one of the premier local dairies in that area.

At that time, there were 45 or more local dairies in Cincinnati. By the mid-1970s, only seven dairies remained in the region. Dairies such as Blessing Bros., Cedar Hill Farm, Cloverleaf-Hannaken, French Bauer, and Coors Brothers had been sold and consolidated into larger concerns. Trauth and Meyer is one dairy that remains in business today. Coors Brothers also remains in business but mainly as a distributor of dairy products. In today's dairy industry, most farmers sell their milk through large national organizations, like the Dairy Farmers of America.

This Coors Brothers Dairy cream can, then, is a vestige of that history--of the time when milk bottles clanking in the early morning announced the arrival of the milk man delivering that day's milk and cheese from a stepvan, and, even earlier, from a horse-drawn wagon. It is in remarkable condition with the metal entirely intact.

It measures 15 3/4 inches tall with a 8 3/4-inch base. It is 4 1/4 inches across the top. It has a handle for a strong grip. On its side are the words "COORS BROS DAIRY 1 - 42." It is barn red in color but may have been painted. A truly wonderful find for the dairy collector!
