<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>Very nice collection of thirteen mostly turn-of-the-century authors. Among them, an AQS by <b><font size=-1>Edmund Vance Cooke</font></b>, the last four stanzas from his 1904 poem, “How Did You Die?” on verso of printed card of the entire poem with facsimile signature. TLS by poet <b><font size=-1>Edgar A. Guest</font></b> transmitting his AMsS of his poem entitled “Opportunity” in two stanzas. Plus an ALS, 1908, by British writer and poet <b><font size=-1>Alfred Austin</font></b>, regretting his inability to comply with request for copy of his poem, plus ANS “<i>A.A.</i>,” 1904, “<i>With Compliments & good wishes</i>...” and AMsS of his untitled six-line poem. Also, a clipped signature by writer and diplomat <b><font size=-1>Clare Booth Luce</font></b>, 5"x1". TLS by author and diplomat <b><font size=-1>Henry Van Dyke</font></b>, 1906, declining an invitation. Plus an ALS by clergyman and writer <b><font size=-1>Edward Everett Hale</font></b>, 1908, in part, “<i>Say to the boys that they must live and work ‘with God for man’..</i>.” and sharing the maxim by which he lives. Also, an AMsS by writer and poet <b><font size=-1>S. E. Kiser</font></b>, his poem in three stanzas, “My Distant Hills Are Steep.” A beautiful Christmas card signed by <b><font size=-1>Julius Withers Monk</font></b> with ALS on card expressing his appreciation for dinner, concluding, “<i>I’m about due for some celestial voices myself</i>...” Lastly, present are an ALS and two AQsS, ca 1898-1902, by writer and poet <b><font size=-1>Richard Burton</font></b>. In his letter, Burton transmits his poem “The Human Touch” in six lines, Sep 24, 1908; and separately, his poem “In the Shadows,” in three stanzas. Expected wear; overall VG.
