WRIGHT, FRANK LLOYD
(1867 - 1959) American architect, on of the most influential of all time, he was the creator of so-called organic architecture utilizing novel shapes and incorporating his buildings into their settings. A rare and most desirable Wright item, an original working drawing from the construction plans for one of Wright's best known buildings, the Erik Pratt House in Galesburg, MI! The drawing, executed in graphite, red pencil and black ink on tracing paper, measures 35" x 25", and is titled: "Sheet No. 4 Cross Section, House for Mr. and Mrs. Eric Pratt Galesburg Country Homes, Frank Lloyd Wright, Architect". Signed at lower right by Wright in brown ink on his typical red square Taliesin logo: "F. LL. W. March 20/49". The Eric Pratt house was one of a series of houses built in the Galesburg, Michigan, designed in 1948. Wright designed over 70 structures in Michigan in all, most being single family, single stories, of which the Pratt house is a fine and characteristic example. Though well into his seventies at the time he approved this drawing, Wright's artistic output remained extraordinarily high, building, in 1948-49, over thirty buildings. Pin holes to corners from prior display, otherwise in very good condition. Along with copies of two other blueprints for the Pratt house: one showing the exterior and surrounding area, and the other showing "Cross Section 3". Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation in Scottsdale, AZ. Very good condition.
