WORLD WAR I US NAVY OFFICER'S JACKET
WORLD WAR I US NAVY OFFICER'S JACKET
Very dark blue wool U.S. Navy officer's jacket. The collar tabs each bear a fouled anchor insignia and a single silver bar, both in bullion, while the sleeves each bear a single gold bullion star, above two asymmetrical bands of gold piping. These insignia identify the owner as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade. A gold war service chevron above the star on the left sleeve indicates that the wearer was deployed to an active combat zone for at least three months. The inside of the collar bears a manufacturer's label from The Wm. H. Bellis Co., of Annapolis, MD. The right inside pocket bears an identification tag, listing the owner as N.P. Darling, with an issue date of Sep. 27, 1918. Fine.
