Group of three World War I-related signed items. Includes: FELIX VON LUCKNER (1881-1966), commander of the German commerce raider "Seeadler" ("Sea Eagle"), one of the last sailing ships to see active combat. Luckner captured or sank sixteen ships, totaling 30,099 GRT, before the Seeadler ran aground and was wrecked in Tahiti. Partially-typed D.S. "Felix Count Luckner", 1p. 4to., East Orange, New Jersey, Apr. 15, 1931. Very good. WITH: THOMAS SOPWITH (1888-1989), founder of the Sopwith Aviation Company, which produced many aircraft used by the Allies in World War I, including the Sopwith Camel, the deadliest fighter of the conflict. S.P. "T.O.M. Sopwith", 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" b/w, showing Sopwith seated at the controls of an early aircraft. Signed along the left margin in black ink. Fine. WITH: FRANK HAYS (1896-1988), American fighter ace who scored six victories over the Western Front in 1918. Signed photocopy, 4 1/2" x 5 1/2", showing Hays standing in front of a Spad fighter plane.
