WORLD WAR I LEATHER FLYING COAT ATTRIBUTED TO AN ACE. Tan leather, calf-length flying coat with maternity-style front having six concealed buttons. Left breast with map pocket. Hidden flap pocket with snap closures below. Snaps marked “Made In England.” Waist belt and snap cuffs. Collar and interior lined with beige wool. Upper inside button flap marked “WJAD”. The coat was purchased in the early 1970s from Canadian Ace William James Arthur Duncan, an SE5a fighter pilot with 60 Squadron. Captain Duncan was credited with the destruction of 11 enemy aircraft and was twice awarded the Military Cross. CONDITION: Fine. 4-54122 CW65 (3,000-3,500)
