WORLD WAR 2 U.S. NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD
WORLD WAR 2 U.S. NAVAL OFFICER’S SWORD. Documented owner was (Dr.) Captain Emanuel Joseph Amoury of Staten Island, New York. Dr. Amoury was a surgeon in civilian life and a medical officer in his military life. Has unique brass hilt with pierced leaf and acorn motif. The letters “USN” are visible on the underside of the counter-guard. Quillon terminates in a dolphin fish head. Top of knuckle-bow is decorated with dolphin fish. Top of pommel features an eagle surrounded by 13 stars. Blade is ornately decorated with floral motifs and anchor and shield. Reverse of blade is decorated with floral motifs, anchor, rope, and marked “U.S.N.” Blade is stamped at ricasso “Made in U.S.A.” with etched Star of David. Reverse side of ricasso is etched with crown and marked “A Regal Product by Gaunt”. Black leather scabbard has brass mounts and tip. Brass mounts are feature twisted rope decoration and drag is decorated with figural dolphin fish. Total length: 34 7/8”, Blade length: 29 5/8”

Sword is accompanied with a Certificate of Satisfactory Service from the Secretary of the Navy as well as a Notice of Separation from the U.S. Naval Service dated April 19, 1948. Both are beautifully double-framed and matted in single frame. Sword is also accompanied with a hanging office sign that reads “Dr. E.J. Amoury/M.D.”.
