Signed handpainted peacock Locke Worcester sugar and creamer in figural silver plate stand with birds. England, 1900-1904. Stand by Walker and Hall, Sheffield.<BR>Total height is 7 1/2inches.<BR>Cream body with orange-tan variations, raised moulded acanthus leaves and gilded rims and highlights. Each piece is handpainted with a brightly coloured, crowned peacock in a <BR><BR>naturalistic setting. Hint of blue sky. Great detail.<BR>Each piece is signed by the artist: I LEWIS and marked in green underneath with the Shrub Hill Works mark, used between 1900-4.<BR>THe sugar has a wonderful repousse lid with openwork for scattering the sugar, done in classic Georgian style. Silver plate stand on round legs with double long-beaked dragon/bird finial <BR><BR>on top. Fully marked by the facory underneath. (Walker and Hall and Hard & Silver soldered).<BR>Excellent condition. No chips/cracks/damage to porcelain and no losses/dings/damage to silver.
