Guthrie sells the rights to his immortal ballad, Tom Joad

(1912 - 1967) American song writer and musician, considered the "Father of American Folk music", best known for his masterpiece, "This Land Is Your Land". Typed D.S. signed at conclusion, again in the text, and twice more in the tyext in block letters, 4pp. 4to., [3520 Mermaid, Ave., Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY, [n.d., ca. 1945], a document in which Guthries signs over the rights to his song "Tom Joad" to People's Songs, Inc. People's Songs was an organization and label formed by Guthrie in 1945 to distribute American folk music. "Tom Joad" was one of Guthrie's most famous ballads, based on the character of the same name in Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. Some light toning, boldly signed, very good.
