On White House letterhead to Grant Squires, a NY attorney who handled Wilson’s investments while he was President. In full, <i>“You are a genuine sport and patriot, and I thank you warmly for your letter of November 23rd...” </i>Boldly signed. Light general toning; light feathering; o/w VG/Fine. Accompanied by original transmittal envelope. Squires had written to Wilson two weeks earlier asking for a commission in the service, and Wilson wrote back asking him if he would give up the idea of a commission. This letter apparently references this exchange.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.
