WOODROW WILSON (1856-1924) President. DS, as President, 1p, Aug 7, 1916, large folio, vellum, military appointment of Charles P Summerall as "Lieutenant-Colonel of Field Artillery." Also signed by Newton D Baker (1871-1937) as Sec of War. Charles Pelot Summeral (1967-1955) graduated from West Point in 1892. His active duty included the Spanish-American War and World War I. Raising rapidly in rank to the permanent grade of Major General, he served as Chief of Staff of the Army from 1926-30. Wilson's signature is a little light, o/w VG. Matted and framed. $600-800
