<b>4. NATHANIEL WOODHULL </b>(1722 - 1776) American militia general who served with distinction in the French and Indian War at Crown Point and Ticonderoga. Led the militia in the Battle of Long Island where he was captured and later died of his wounds inflicted during his capture. Rare A.D.S. signed four times ("<i>Nathaniel Woodhull</i>" three times in text and "<i>Nathel. Woodhull</i>" once at end), 1p. folio, Brookhaven, N.Y. Mar. 13, 1774, a deed in which Woodhull sells Zacharaiah Hawkins of Brookhaven "<i>...one whole share of Meadow Being Number nine and also one Equal half of another share Being Number Ten Situate on the South Side of the Island on the East side of Connecticut in the New purchase at a place called Newcomach...</i>" Cleanly split at folds and archival repairs on verso, light browning and soiling, a few worm holes clear of text, otherwise very good condition.<b> $1,500-2,000</b>
