Practical Art Deco silver plate tea strainer spoon made by WMF, Germany. It is marked on the underside of the handle with the WMF ostrich mark introduced in 1909. WMF stands for WÜRTTEMBERGISCHE METALLWARENFABRIK, was founded in 1880 in Germany and, around 1900, produced a wide range of silver-plated articles, mostly in the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) style. WMF's golden age was brief as it lost its export markets in 1914 with the start of World War I. Early WMF pieces are uncommon and highly sought after. In good used condition with minor signs of wear as shown. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs before buying.
