Oil on canvas, framed. Featuring landscape scene with orthodox churches in the background. Signed and attr. Wladyslaw Koscielniack (Polish, 1916-2015) on the lower right corner. 70 x 57 cm (27.6 x 22.5 inches). Wladyslaw Koscielniack was the son of Tadeusz and Agnieszka, née Siarkiewicz. In 1935 he graduated from the School of Commerce in Kalisz. From 1937-1939 he served in the 17th Regiment of Wielkopolska Uhlans, he took part in the battle of the Bzura and in defense of Warsaw. In 1947 he graduated from the University of Maritime Trade in Gdynia and began studying at the School of Administrative Sciences in Lodz, of which, after a year he gave up his studies and devoted himself to independent artistic work started in 1946. From 1951-1981 he was a member of the Union of Polish Visual Artists and the president of the ZPAP branch in Kalisz. Koscielniack's works can be found in museum collections and private collections in Poland and abroad.
