War-date A.L.S. 1p. 12mo., [n.p.], May 27, 1863 to Col. Wm. Preston Johnston. In part: ""...I have the honor to inform you that Chas. J. Work Comp. K 18th Miss Regt. was sent to the Army of Northern Va. on Thursday last..."". Chip at right margin and top margin unevenly trimmed, a few tears carefully repaired on verso, one affecting signature, overall very good.
