WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 MUSKET.  .44 Caliber Rim fire.  In 1866, New Haven Arms Company changed its name to Winchester Repeating Arms Company.  The first firearm to be produced under the Winchester name was the Model 1866.  Made in 1870 ( Serial # below 35XXX ).  This antique firearm is still in beautiful condition.  Its brass receiver and butt plate are in new condition.  A lot of the original blue still remains on the barrel, mag and loading gate.  It has bright rifling - almost never seen on guns of this age.  A few screw slots are somewhat burred, proving only that it was punctually cleaned after firing ( the old ammo ruined rifling if briefly neglected.) Fore end and butt stock show only minor bruises, with almost all original varnish intact.  According to The Blue Book of Gun Vales, this firearm is appraised at above $35,000 U.S. dollars because it is not in " above average " condition, but in " far above average " condition. This firearm can enter the USA without hindrance because U.S. Customs has assigned it genuine antique status.
