LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 CF. S# 26939. Bbl. 24" octagon. Sporting front sight w/ graduated leaf musket style rear sight. Full length mag. The added style three vine type foliate scroll engraving features a Mexican Eagle & Snake on left sideplate. Brass crescent buttplate & forearm cap have complimentary engraving. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ added sling swivels. Mfg. 1869. CONDITION: bbl. has faded brown appearance showing edge wear & spots of pitting. Mag. tube has 80% fading blue & appears to be replacement. Brass has acquired a mottled mustard patina. Sanded stocks have heavy coat of varnish w/ dents, chips & small cracks. Toe of stock has an epoxy repair. Functioning action. Dark pitted bore w/ worn rifling. (01-26395/DS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
