ACTION SRC. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 100647 followed by "L" is found behind trigger. Bbl. 20". Band mounted blade front sight w/ a folding carbine rear sight. Full length mag. Brass action has saddle ring w/ leather thong on left side. Unsigned 75% coverage hand engraving. Open banners on sideplates allow room to add inscriptions. Right side banner is surrounded by stripes & stars, reminiscent of the US flags w/ fancy borders. Left banner has fancy borders. Balance of sideplates & front & rear action areas have vine type foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds. Complimentary engraving extends to upper & lower receiver areas along w/ buttplate peak. Sunburst patterns are found on front of receiver ring & bottom of lifter. Carbine forearm & walnut stock w/ brass trapdoor carbine buttplate. Mfg. 1872. CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube finish have faded to a mottled brown showing areas of pitting & small dents. Brass has a mottled patina appearance showing handling marks. Stocks have worn finish w/ dents, scratches & marks. Forearm has a small crack extending from the receiver w/ an added wood repaired chip on left side of bbl. channel ahead of the receiver. Stock has a hairline crack behind the top tang. Dark bore w/ scattered pitting having largely intact rifling. (01-26440/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
