Cal. 44 WCF. S# 76116. Bbl. 24" octagon to rnd. Combination front sight, filler in rear dovetail, with Long Range Vernier tang sight having a 15/16" disc aperture. Half-length button mag. Action features a later style dust cover on screw fastened guide. Left side of receiver has two filler screws in area of saddle ring staple which is correct as receiver was mfg to carbine specs, but assembled as a rifle at the factory. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock with crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. in 1881. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Winchester factory letter stating the following: Rifle / 1/2 octagon barrel / Plain trigger / 1/2 magazine / Received in the warehouse on September 23, 1881 / Shipped from the warehouse on September 24, 1881 with nine other arms to order number 27782". CONDITION: protected areas of action retain some visible blue with balance fading to brown and showing carry wear. Wood has worn finish with numerous scratches, marks, and dents. Sound mechanics.
