RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). S# 29049. Bbl. 24" octagon, with original sporting sights and combination tang sight on thick base. Action features a mortise dust cover with coarse checkered thumbprint. Full length mag. Blue finish, with case colored hammer and lever. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock, with crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. Mfg. in 1879. CONDITION: bbl., mag. tube, and protected areas of the receiver show 25% dull fading blue, with the balance fading to gray, showing scattered scratches, marks, and small spots of surface corrosion and pitting. Restored wood has notably dark appearance showing light scratches, marks, and dings. Mechanically fine. Good bore with strong rifling having some pitting in the grooves. (01-27048/DS).
