WILLIAMS, SETH
(1822 - 1866) Union brigadier general active at Gettysburg, Petersburg, and Atlanta. He was also Adjutant General of the Army of the Potomac. War-date D.S. ""S. Williams"" adding rank, on Headquarters Army of the Potomac letterhead, 1p. 4to., Falmouth, Apr. 7, 1863, Special Orders No. 75 concerning the assignment of Major Freeman McGilvery to the command of the artillery at the Aquia Landing and Potomac railroad bridges. Interestingly, McGilvery helped set up an artillery defense at Gettysburg after the rout of Sickle's Corps at the Peach Orchard. Small hole in center of the document affects one word of text, else very good.
