(1822 - 1866) Union brigadier general active at Gettysburg, Petersburg, and Atlanta. He was also adjutant general of the Army of the Potomac. War-date partly-printed D.S. "S. Williams" as assistant adjutant general, 1p. 4to., Power's House, [Va.], Apr. 7, 1862, relieving him of duty under Gen. John Barnard and assigning him to duty under Gen. Humphrey. Significant paper loss to the right margin. Future brevet brigadier general HENRY L. ABBOT (1831-1927) adds an eleven line A.E.S. on verso. Along with a war-date partly-printed D.S. SETH WILLIAMS 1p. 4to., Harrison Landing, Va., July 23, 1862 to Henry L. Abbot allowing him a leave of absence. Unless otherwise noted, toned and soiled, else good.
