<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>(1854-1924). Army scout, lawman, state senator and buffalo hunter who was one of “The Three Guardsmen” who rid the Oklahoma Territory of the Doolin gang and other outlaws. Partly printed DS “<i>Wm Tilghman</i>,” 1p, oblong 8vo, Guthrie, OK, Nov 15, 1907. Removed from larger document. Receipt for expenses of $13.80 paid to Tilghman by US Marshal John R. Abernathy and drawn on Guthrie National Bank. Boldly signed as Field Deputy Marshal. Two ½" tears a bottom edge with no paper loss of negligible affect; scuff marks in right margin; o/w VG. As a buffalo hunter, Tilghman is said to have killed 4,000 buffalo in one year. In one of his more than seven recorded gunfights, he wounded Clay Allison. He was deputy sheriff under Bat Masterson and chief of police for Oklahoma City. Bat Masterson called him ‘the greatest of us all,’ and he is generally considered the best. He is said to have been paid more reward money than any other law officer.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
